Modelling with clay

One of my clay puppets. With this little guy I want to make some simple animation tests. But I also want to do a very experimental and abstract clay animation. It is always so exciting to see how a puppet or just a ball of clay comes to life.
I love it!

Chicken!

Since my grandmother really loves funny chicken, I modelled her one for her birthday.

Paper-Cut

At the moment I'm very interested in paper-cut illustrations (Take a look at my inspiration-tumblr! There are quite a lot of posts about paper-cut). I would really like to do more like this and I would like to experiment with even more layers, so that the paper-cut-sculpts get more and more dimensions.
Here are some first simple paper-cuts.

This is only a sneak peek at the picture. I'll try to post the whole one as soon I get a scanner. (oh dear! I would be so great to have a scanner! :D )

Traditional Drawing

Still life drawing.
I did this at a drawing course in December. Actually I am planning to really start attending this course from february on. The course shall help me creating a portfolio for the art school I wish to go to. I already had the chance to talk to a lecturer who gave me some useful advices.
I'm not really used to do traditional still life drawings but this was somehow fun. I'm really looking forward to this course because I already have some ideas for the portfolio and I'm curious about what the lecturer is thinking of them.

Some drawings I did in December

This is for sure the smallest drawing I ever did. And additionally it is formed like an egg!

Update

okei... since my previous posts there happened quite a lot.
I moved to Hamburg.
I started my internship at an amazing Animation studio.
I received my letter from art school that I am not invited to the test.

so... I have to say that I am still very disappointed that I didn't even get an invitation to the test. I was really satisfied with my portfolio and I expected an invitation at least. but okei... At the moment, I am sure that I am going to apply at the same art school in one year again. In the passing months I spent a lot of time searching for informations about it and I read a lot of good things. In addition I took a look at the courses they are offering and it really pleased to me. This year I will improve my drawing skills and work more on the story-telling of my drawings. Here in Hamburg there are many possibilities for practicing some life drawing. ;)
oh! and my internship! I am going to learn a lot there! I really like the atmosphere at the studio and it is great that my internship isn't focused on a special step of producing the film. I have the chance to learn something from every step of the production and my free time I can spend working on own projects. At the moment I am preparing a little cut-out animation sequence. But I think I will do more than one project, because I am going to stay there until March.

hmm...okei... I think this is enough for now. In the following days I will try to post some drawings and sketches I did in the passing month.

Illustration Portfolio pt.11- Animals2

These animal drawings are the most important drawings in my portfolio. I am really interested in zoology. Some of the animals I have chosen to draw are (in my opinion) the most extraordinary-looking animals out there. The students at the portfolio information day liked these drawings the most and they gave me the advice to do even more. On that day I only had 4 drawings. Now I have 16 and I really had to stop myself to do even more, because I also wanted to put some other drawings in the portfolio. There are just so many beautiful and extraordinary animals!

I really hope you (as well as the profs) like my portfolio!

Illustration Portfolio pt.9- 19th Century Family Portrait

The antique photography print was in a frame I bought. Instead of throwing it away I just overpainted the faces.

Another monster...

Illustration Portfolio pt.7

Illustration Portfolio pt.6- Whale

Illustration Portfolio pt.5- Monster Designs

These drawings were also included in my portfolio for the internship. I tried to create something like a character model sheet with these monsters in different poses.

Illustration Portfolio pt.4- Purzelbaum

I wanted to do some movement studies for my portolio. In the end I decided to do a "Purzelbaum" (sorry I have no idea how to say this in english :D ).
Personally... I am not able to do a "Purzelbaum". I always roll to the wrong side. Perhaps this drawing will help me understand it someday. :D

Illustration Portfolio pt.2- Monsters on Coffee Paper

I love drawing monsters. It was so much fun doing these drawings. I'm pretty proud of how they look and I really hope that the profs in Hamburg will like it, too!

odosketch

I just created an account for odosketch. Until now I never drew digitally but odosketch is so much fun! Although my sketches are not very good, I cannot stop sketching :D I really like the playback feature so that I can look at the procedure of my own as well as drawings by other members.

Take a look at more sketches here.
